The rescueMe PLB1 can be operated with a single hand in even the most challenging situations. A simple spring loaded flap covers the activation button preventing inadvertent use. The integrated ultra-bright strobe light ensures maximum visibility and antenna deployment could not be easier, with a gentle pull the aerial is released.
The rescueME PLB1 works with the only officially recognised worldwide dedicated search and rescue satellite network (operated by Cospas Sarsat). As this is funded by governments there are NO CHARGES to use this service. When activated, the Personal Locator Beacon transmits your position and your ID to a Rescue Coordination Center via satellite link. Rescue services nearest to you are promptly notified of your emergency and regularly advised of your current location to assist prompt rescue.

Hire a Personal Locator Beacon from Tasmanian Wilderness Experiences for $8.00 per day.

When booking this item you will be required to provide an Emergency Contact of someone not yourself or walking with you that can be notified if you activate the Personal Locator Beacon
A $150.00 charge will be issued for any activations so we can have the battery replaced to ensure all Personal Locator Beacons are hired with the full 24 hour battery life available.
Our driver will provide a demonstration on how to activate the PLB if required.
All PLB’s hired from Tasmanian Wilderness Experiences must be returned on the nominated date to our driver. PLBs can not be left anywhere for us to collect.
• If for any reason the responsible person who has hired the items is not able to return the PLB on the nominated date, a replacement price charge will be processed on the supplied credit card.
• Any damages (beyond reasonable wear and tear) will be photographed and emailed to the responsible person in conjunction with a full replacement price charged to the supplied credit card.
• If the PLB is activated then Tasmanian Wilderness Experiences will be notified by the Emergency Services to confirm that the activation is genuine. We will presume all activations are genuine and will be treated as a life threatening emergency. Activations incur a battery replacement cost of $150.00 charged to the supplied credit card.
• Tasmanian Wilderness Experiences will notify the emergency contact person listed on this document and alert them that the PLB carried by yourself has been activated and they will be given the contact details of the State Emergency Services for all further communication.
• If the PLB is activated for any reason other than a life threatening emergency and the State Emergency Service invoice for all costs involved, the responsible person who has hired the Personal Locator Beacon will be responsible for all monies owing.
